Anticipating the landfall of Tropical Storm Hanna, the Port of Corpus Christi has increased its Hurricane Readiness Status to Port Condition 2 (Tropical Hazards expected within 24 hours) in accordance with its 2020 Hurricane Readiness Plan. The Port continues to monitor possible impact scenarios for Tropical Storm Hanna in and around the Texas Coastal Bend region.

Port of Corpus Christi Receives Grant for Joe Fulton Corridor, Rincon Industrial Complex Improvements
The Port of Corpus Christi was awarded a grant by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) under the 2019-2020 Port Access Program for safety improvements to the Joe Fulton International Trade Corridor and Rincon Road leading to the Rincon Industrial Complex. The Port Access Program is funded by the Texas Mobility Fund and is designed to improve safety and fluidity of roads around Texas seaports. The Mobility Fund is underwritten through vehicle title fees, driver record fees, drivers license fees and vehicle inspections.
The Port of Corpus Christi has allocated a $200,000 grant to LiftFund, a nonprofit community lender, to provide COVID-19 relief loans to eligible small businesses in Nueces and San Patricio counties.
The funds will be used to administer the small business recovery program and provide relief small business loans at 0 percent interest.

The Port of Corpus Christi will host a virtual discussion on “Managing the Critical Importance of Energy in America in a COVID-19 World,” from 9:00 – 11:00 AM EST on May 13, 2020, in partnership with leading trade associations – American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM), the Natural Gas Supply Association (NGSA) and ClearPath.
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Awards Dredging Contract For Corpus Christi Ship Channel Improvement Project
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) awarded a $97.9 million construction contract on Wednesday to Callan Marine, Ltd., to complete the second phase of the four phase Corpus Christi Ship Channel Improvement Project. The project increases the channel depth from -47 feet Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW) to -54 ft MLLW, and widens the channel to 530 feet with an additional 400 feet of barge shelves.
