The Port of Corpus Christi Authority is accepting applications for its Community Sponsorship Program for the second half of 2020, offering nonprofit organizations an opportunity to apply for sponsorship funding.
The Port of Corpus Christi continues normal operations and does not anticipate significant impacts by the “stay at home” order issued earlier today by Nueces County. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) defines major transportation sectors as “critical infrastructure industry” with special responsibilities to continue operations throughout response efforts to COVID-19.
As area businesses close temporarily throughout the South Texas Coastal Bend community to combat evolving COVID-19 concerns, the Port of Corpus Christi (PCCA) will remain open to provide critical infrastructure services and functions, as defined by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).
The Port of Corpus Christi continues to maintain uninterrupted business operations as it works in close cooperation with federal, state and local governments as well as industry in the implementation of its COVID-19 response measures. The Port of Corpus Christi Incident Management Team (IMT) was activated March 13th and will remain active for the duration of this pandemic.
Phillips 66, Trafigura and the Port of Corpus Christi Partner to Build Offshore Single Point Mooring Facility
Phillips 66 and Trafigura Group pte. Ltd announced today that they have formed a 50/50 joint venture, Bluewater Texas Terminal LLC (“Bluewater Texas”) to build an offshore deepwater port project consisting of up to two single point mooring (SPM) buoys. The Bluewater Texas SPM project will be strategically located approximately 21 miles offshore from the Port of Corpus Christi in deepwater to allow for the safe and environmentally responsible loading of crude tankers, including Very Large Crude Carriers or “VLCCs.”
The Port of Corpus Christi Authority’s newest Commissioner was sworn in on Tuesday, February 18, 2020. Nueces County Judge Barbara Canales administered the Oath of Office. Jones fills the Commission seat left vacant by Wayne Squires. Jones will fulfill Squires’ remaining term, which will end on Dec. 31, 2020.
Port of Corpus Christi Awarded $17M Federal Grant for First Phase of Avery Point Terminal Redevelopment
The Port of Corpus Christi has received a federal grant of more than $17 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation – Maritime Administration to expand Oil Dock 3 as the first of four phases in the redevelopment of the Avery Point Terminal (Avery Point).
In the newly released fiscal year 2021 President’s Budget, the White House included over $100 million for the Port of Corpus Christi’s Ship Channel Improvement Project (CIP) under the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Civil Works Division for Coastal Navigation Construction. This is the third consecutive year that the Port of Corpus Christi has been included in the President’s proposed budget.
