New Port of Corpus Christi Commissioner Al Jones Sworn In
The Port of Corpus Christi Authority’s newest Commissioner was sworn in on Tuesday, February 18, 2020. Nueces County Judge Barbara Canales administered the Oath of Office. Jones fills the Commission seat left vacant by Wayne Squires. Jones will fulfill Squires’ remaining term, which will end on Dec. 31, 2020.
Port of Corpus Christi Awarded $17M Federal Grant for First Phase of Avery Point Terminal Redevelopment
The Port of Corpus Christi has received a federal grant of more than $17 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation – Maritime Administration to expand Oil Dock 3 as the first of four phases in the redevelopment of the Avery Point Terminal (Avery Point).

In the newly released fiscal year 2021 President’s Budget, the White House included over $100 million for the Port of Corpus Christi’s Ship Channel Improvement Project (CIP) under the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Civil Works Division for Coastal Navigation Construction. This is the third consecutive year that the Port of Corpus Christi has been included in the President’s proposed budget.
