The top priority, Corpus Christi Ship Channel Improvement Project will widen the ship channel to 530 feet, add additional barge shelves, and extend channel depth to 54 feet. Following recent accelerated funding from Port Corpus Christi, and the signed and approved Project Partnership Agreement (PPA) with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE); the estimated $327 million project is set to begin this year.
The PPA was negotiated and approved on an expedited basis through a team effort between Port Corpus Christi Staff and the USACE Galveston District, USACE Southwest Region Division Staff, and USACE Headquarters.
The Corpus Christi Ship Channel Project will increase transportation efficiency while providing greater operational safety for vessels traversing the channel.
