Sherwin Alumina “WARN Act” Notice

Corpus Christi, TX, USA – Sherwin Alumina Company LLC has released notice dated February 4, 2016 in regards of the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act of 1988. Certain development may result in substantial layoffs and/or complete cessation of business operations at the company’s Gregory, Texas plant.
The Sherwin Alumina plant opened in 1953 and has produced aluminum oxide, or alumina, for over sixty years. In 2015 Sherwin Alumina moved 79 vessels. This is equivalent to 4,447,763 tons and $183K in revenue for Port Corpus Christi.
Port Corpus Christi will continue monitoring any developments and potential regional impact.
