Port of Corpus Christi Launches New Public Information Request Portal to Strengthen Commitment to Transparency

Feb 22, 2024

Corpus Christi, TX, USA – The Port of Corpus Christi has launched a new public information portal as part of its ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability, making available a multitude of new tools that will improve accessibility to information for requestors.

In partnership with CivicPlus, the Port of Corpus Christi is rolling out the new NextRequest for Public Information Requests portal effective today. The website provides more efficient ways for the public to request and receive information, including eliminating the need for physical media (i.e., USB flash drives, CD/DVD) to store and distribute responses, as well as digitally archiving requests and responses so they are readily available to view online.

“The Port of Corpus Christi has long been committed to the highest levels of transparency and accountability to its community stakeholders and customer base,” said Cindy Bertolami, Chief Financial Officer for the Port of Corpus Christi. “This new initiative serves to further the promise made by our Chief Executive Officer, Kent Britton, to provide innovative and modern ways for the public to access information about the Port of Corpus Christi and its operations.”

The Port of Corpus Christi has seen a steady increase in public information requests, which totaled 155 in 2023. That number is expected to continue rising as the national and global profile of the Port and its customers grows. The NextRequest portal will allow for the immediate electronic distribution of records to a requestor, rather than printing documents or uploading files onto a physical storage medium as is common with particularly large records requests. Requestors can also search prior requests to see if the information they are seeking has been previously published online.

“As a governmental entity beholden to the public trust, launching this new tool will allow us to better serve our communities’ need to have access to requested information more quickly and accurately,’” said Dynessa Nordrum, Records Manager for the Port of Corpus Christi. “Being proactive with such an important aspect of our core values – Accountability – demonstrates the Port of Corpus Christi’s continued commitment to transparency for our region.”
