Texas ports are critical components to a prosperous future for our state and nation.  Several Texas seaports, including Port Corpus Christi rank among the top in the nation, and the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge in the Rio Grande Valley is a top ranking land port of entry.  

The State of Texas Legislature is committed to ensuring Texas ports remain ahead of the curve for their role in ensuring prosperity for the future.  That commitment is backed by state directed funds to help ensure secure and efficient movement of goods and people through infrastructure improvements, and the creation of a Senate Select Committee on Texas ports. 

Port Corpus Christi is set to receive $3.3 million as one of nine ports selected by the Port Authority Advisory Committee to receive funding through the Rider 48 General Appropriations Bill of the 84th Legislative Session. 

The Port’s construction project includes widening a portion of the Joe Fulton International Trade Corridor where it connects with Mike Carrell Road. Mike Carrell Road construction will improve the safety and access of traffic traveling to the new M&G Chemicals facility, and the new Port Corpus Christi Public Oil Dock 14. Approximately half of the cost for these road improvements are covered under the Texas Transportation Commission approved funding.

State Senator, Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa, authored and supported Rider additions to the state budget.  Port Corpus Christi lies within Senator Hinojosa’s Senate District.  Read more in regards to this from Senator Hinojosa in The Monitor, and the Rio Grande Guardian. 

The new Port Corpus Christi Oil Dock 14 (pictured under construction) will connect to the Joe Fulton International Trade Corridor via the new Mike Carrell Road.
