Port of Corpus Christi to donate trees to elementary schools for Arbor Day

Oct 31, 2019

Corpus Christi, TX, USA – Port of Corpus Christi staff will celebrate Arbor Day at two local elementary schools by helping students plant a tree at their respective campuses.

Students from Menger and George Evans elementary schools will assist Port volunteers in planting a tree at each of their campuses. The event is meant to provide an opportunity for students to beautify their schools, while also building a sense of community and appreciation for the environment, areas of vital importance to the Port of Corpus Christi.

“On behalf of the students and staff at Menger Elementary, I’d like to thank our Adopt-A-School partners from the Port of Corpus Christi for donating an oak tree in observance of Texas Arbor Day 2019,” said Menger Elementary School Principal Dr. Christina Barrera. “The students in our Menger Elementary Garden Club will participate in the ceremony and our entire school will enjoy the shade this tree will provide during recess. This gift will not only add to the beauty of our school, it will also bring awareness of the importance of trees and the significant role they play in our environment.”
