The Port of Corpus Christi Authority Police Department is an organization comprised of people of integrity and a commitment to providing quality police service to the Port and community in an honest, fair, professional and courteous manner.
We focus on forging partnerships based on mutual trust, confidence, commitment and communication to maintain and improve the quality of life, as well as promote the safety and welfare, of all citizens.
The members of this Department pledge collectively and individually to grow, develop and engage in reassessment to meet the current and future challenges of the Port.
Primary Duties
The duties of Port PD include the safety and security of all passenger, cargo and vessel operations at the Port of Corpus Christi, requiring considerable public and community contact and cooperation.
Training:
Officers undergo basic police academy training, followed by field training with a field training officer and may be assigned to patrol by vehicle or boat.
Officers receive general law enforcement and regulatory assignments designed to promote a safe port.
These day-to-day duties typically include:
- Patrolling the Port’s waterfront.
- Monitoring vessel berthings to ensure safe docking
- Issuing hazardous cargo and dangerous goods permits.
- Inspecting vessels to guard against drug smuggling and pollution violations.
- Enforcing local, state and federal laws.
- Providing special training and general assistance to customer security operations.
