Transportation Industry Round-Table Discussion and Media Tour

Aug 23, 2016

Along with the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA), Port Corpus Christi hosted a round-table discussion for freight industry ‘influencers’ and media at the Solomon P. Ortiz International Center in Corpus Christi.  The discussion was followed by a tour of Port Corpus Christi and some of the new industry taking shape around the port.

Titled, ‘Freight: Keep it Moving,’ port forums brought together key thought-leaders throughout the transportation industry to explore critical issues facing U.S. seaports and discuss the increasing strain on the nation’s freight transportation infrastructure. Round-table participants included business, port and association executives, supply chain logistics professionals, academics and government officials, sharing their thoughts on the challenges, priorities and possible solutions for making investments in America’s freight transportation network.

In a recent AAPA survey, Texas ports and their private-sector partners said they are planning nearly $48 billion in capital investments (much of this surrounding Port Corpus Christi) over the next five years to handle the expected cargo volume growth and address freight mobility.
