Sep 14, 2018

Corpus Christi, TX, USA – The Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources today held a hearing on “The Role of U.S. LNG in Meeting European Energy Demand,” which examined the role of American natural gas in supporting the energy security of our Eastern European allies. At the close of the hearing, Sean Strawbridge, Chief Executive Officer of the Port of Corpus Christi, released the following statement:

“As a gateway to the United States’ global energy trade, the Port of Corpus Christi applauds Committee Chairman Lisa Murkowski for convening this important discussion. Now, more than ever, it is crucial that the United States use its abundant energy resources to support friends and allies abroad. Ensuring Eastern Europe, particularly places like Poland, has access to reliable and affordable fuel will go a long way in protecting geopolitical stability and facilitating further energy security.”

Cheniere’s Corpus Christi Liquefaction project Train 1 is now in the commissioning process. On the current timeline, it is expected to achieve first LNG during the fourth quarter of this year, continuing Cheniere and Bechtel’s track record of delivering Trains ahead of schedule. Cheniere anticipates first cargo in the months following first LNG, with the potential for commissioning cargoes this year. Expected destinations for future cargoes have not been disclosed.
